ethel turner, President

Principal Turner is the principal of Arthur’s Town Comprehensive School, the founder, with her husband, of the Church of God in the Bluff and a community leader in North Cat Island. She is a proud founding member of Cat Island United and has served in a host of roles from Treasurer to leading beach clean ups.

Carl Rolle, Treasurer

Mr. Rolle founded and runs Rollezz Villas in Old Bight. He comes from a distinguished career in finance and is passionate about preserving traditional Cat Island culture and its unique history.

Letitia Brown, co-Treasurer

Ms. Brown is the manager of the Bank of Bahamas Cat Island Branch and an enthusiastic supporter of all things Cat Island. Her service both as a founding member of Cat Island United and its President is in the memory of her father, a treasured son of Cat Island.

ajah davis, Secretary

Ms. Davis is passionate about the power of plants to fuel healthy lives and whet the appetite. She runs a vegan restaurant, Real Island Juices and Cafe, in Smith Bay Dock.

DeniCe Bethel

Ms. Bethel is a local businesswoman who runs the acclaimed restaurant, Hidden Treasures, with her husband. She is an organic farmer and interested in organic farming and cooking.

Jacqueline Campaigne

Ms. Campaigne is a journalist, author of the Cat Island Guide and hobbyist in fusion cooking, small farm and solar technology. A Swedish national, she lives year round in Shana’s with her husband Curtis.

Kenrica Hepburn

Ms. Hepburn is a scientist and founder of the Cat Island Farmer’s Association. She retired to Cat Island to build local farming capacity and aspires to introduce food processing. She lives in Da Bluff and Nassau.

Dr. Charles Hollander

Dr. Hollander is a medical doctor, licensed in both the US and the Bahamas, who winters in Old Bight and volunteers with the local clinics, meeting patients and also helping upgrade the facilities. Dr. Hollander is the lead board member on helping to make a reality the proposed marine protected areas.

James Honeycutt

Mr. Honeycutt is an electrical engineer who lives year round on Pigeon Cay. On the board, he leads the work on small island solar solutions (SISS) and has dedicated many hours to bringing electricity to unserved residents on Cat and diffusing island-size solar solutions.

Phillip johnson

Mr. Johnson is a former teacher who returned to his family’s homestead in the Bluff. His focus is on youth development and his interests include farming and demystifying the cultural tales of Cat Island.

Jennifer Johnson-CalarI

Ms. Johnson-Calari was inspired by the unspoiled beauty of the island and the warmth of the community to found Cat Island United with a group of like minded women. She is passionate about living lightly, the untapped possibilities for eco-tourism and working with the Island youth. Jennifer leads grant-writing for CIU.

Shaquille Moss

Mr. Moss is a local businessman at Alvernia Foods in Smith Bay and is keen to contribute his skills to local endeavors.

Rich pappalardo

Mr. Pappalardo is a winter resident of Fernandez Bay. He brings valuable project management skills to the Board from his international career as head of software systems sales. He has brought his considerable project management skills to the Solar Tutorial Farms

Rowena Poitier Sutherland

Ms Poitier-Sutherland is a Cat Island resident and co-producer of Goombay Kids, an award winning Bahamian TV series. She is a founder of the Bahamas an artist and activist passionate about arts education, advocating for the rights women & children and food security.

Meg Wujack

Ms. Wujack has been a winter resident of Old Bight for 27 years. Her focus on the board is the recycling program, which she leads, and youth environmental education. She brought to Cat primary and middle school students BNT’s Discovery Club—beloved by primary and middle schoolers.
